Afro Cuban

Christine Sinclair Community Centre

Service Description

Afro-Cuban dances are a diverse collection of rhythmic, expressive movements rooted in the fusion of African traditions—brought by enslaved people from West and Central Africa. These dances are ritualistic expressions from the Santería religion that personify specific deities (Orishas) through unique movements, stories, and rhythms played on sacred Batá drums.
